25 Things at 25

I’m coming up on the close of 25 (ooolllldddd). I’m also at a crossroads in my life right now after making some big changes that both needed to be made and have left the trajectory of my future wide open to possibilities. It’s just me and my dog and this great big world full of opportunity. With all of that, it’s a little easy to get overwhelmed or even so excited about all of the possibilities for what my future holds that I don’t actually do anything. So I’ve decided that even though it’s not New Year’s, I am making a list of 25 things to do in the next 365 days of my life (yes, I realize that I will actually be 26 when I do most of these things, but 25 makes for a catchier title). This is what I’ve come up with so far.

  1. Eat better & exercise more (you have to start a resolutions list with that, right?).
  2. Keep finding ways to minister to teens-through TC, teaching, or maybe something cool that I haven’t thought of yet.
  3. Read a book on personal finance.
  4. Pay off my car and some student debt.
  5. Begin writing a novel.
  6. Take an art class.
  7. Train my dog.
  8. Publish a paper.
  9. Start a business (perhaps on Etsy).
  10. Get another piercing (in my ear…because I’m a risk-taker).
  11. Build community by joining, creating, and/or leading a life group.
  12. Make 5 new friends. And keep them.
  13. Look for 1 way to help someone else every day.
  14. Get better at Spanish. Use it to make friends who speak Spanish.
  15. Send cards to people, encouraging them.
  16. Go to Honduras and meet my One Child Matters kiddo, Karina.
  17. Finally finish recording my Christmas album.
  18. Write a new song.
  19. Learn to whistle.
  20. Learn to use power tools.
  21. Create a must-read book list. Then read those books. Do not allow self to re-watch the following TV shows until said list is completed: The Office, How I Met Your Mother, New Girl, Friends, Community.
  22. Throw my mom a birthday party (big 6-0!).
  23. Be absolutely wide open to the Spirit. Seize opportunities. Be brave.
  24. Go on an adventure.
  25. Love more.

I’ll let you know how it goes.
